  I fell off a ladder and waited 3 days to go to the ER, thinking the hurting would pass. I drove in, explained I hit my head and right butt cheek and it really rattled my cage! They took me back to a room in some 15 minutes. Yeh, that is unusual! They ran a CT from my head down and whoever read that, whoever ordered that, has literally saved my life. They found I had a head bleed, AND an aortic aneurysm of 5.8cm, 2.3 inches. Who knows when either happened. I was transferred to Baptist Memphis ICU where they did another CT and an MRI. I'm preparing for a heart Cath then heart surgery - that was completely unknown and would have remained unknown if someone wasn't doing a very good job and looked at everything instead of my butt area. The brain bleed has stopped, but presents a problem for the blood thinners needed. So I THANK whoever ordered the CT and that they really looked at it good. Ed

  In the past, I would've given this place zero stars across the board if it let me, but recently it seems to have made a HUGE turnaround. The last few times I've had to go there(several over the last year) have been pleasant experiences(as far as hospital visits go) and I'm very glad of that considering it is the only hospital close to my home. My mother has had to have several extended stays there as well as surgeries and the staff was excellent. The doctors and nurses do a wonderful job explaining what is going to happen during treatment, at-home care, etc. I literally cannot express the dramatic improvement in service and patient care! It was so terrible in the past that I seriously would've trusted someone working out of the back of their van before I went there because the wait time alone would've caused my untimely demise had it been a serious illness or injury. It needed a disclaimer that said, "Good Luck". Bravo, for the changes! Too bad it only took 20+ years to make it happen...

  I'm only posting this so other expecting mothers don't make the same mistake of coming here as I did. I am a young first time mother which also might be the cause of the treatment I got while I was there. After I had my daughter I hardly ever saw a nurse. I had trouble nursing and I saw a lactation specialist about four times in my stay and nobody seemed to care that my daughter wasn't drinking. She ended up with an awful case of jaundice because of it, almost put into St. Jude. This one nurse would talk to me sternly like I was a child telling me I had to nurse her. Like I wasn't trying every minute she was awake?? My very last nurse on the last day I stayed there asked me if I had been given the pain medicine I was supposed to be receiving (I was in a lot of pain and could hardly walk) and I said no I hadn't. She gave me TWO types of medicine I was supposed to be taking every four to six hours after delivery. And showed me the bottle I was supposed to use when I went to the bathroom? The nurse who pushed me to my car was extremely rude and was tapping her foot and telling me to hurry up when I was getting our things together. I will not make the mistake of going every again.
